Josep Albors, posting on WeLiveSecurity.com, has an interesting article looking at the security risks that may come from allowing the use of smart phones in banks. He is quick to point out that the same concerns can also apply to any corporate environment.

Some of the possible scenarios include using the phone to check wifi networks- what security is on them? is there an unsecure guest wifi that could pivot into the main network? Also making use of the high res cameras on a phone, an attacker could take photos showing which software used by employees, which ports are used on employee PCs, what network outlets that might be accessible, identification plates, or even filming security guards changing shifts — “all are actions that can be very useful for someone planning a future attack”.

Josep continues describing some more sophisticated attacks that may be possible with more specialized hacking.
